Trying to make fig leaves appealing

by NW Hall

Trying to make fig leaves appealing
is like pulling weeds in the Garden
of Eden. Perfect is what one says.

Besides, paradise cannot go down the tubes
if Hell is backed up with dead grass.
No one repent. If anyone repents,
some of the blades will loosen
and paradise shall be a guest
of the big, rusty pipes.

Better yet, keep weeding
the Garden of Eden. No matter
how sorry anyone gets, there will always
be big rigid fists bunching around the drying
root tangles to keep the fig trees growing green in Eden.
Broad delicate leaves that keep Creation in perfect disorder.
